Bio
WHAM BAM BODYSLAM exist since 2008 and they are currently based in Vienna and Upper-Austria. They released their first LP “Down Here” in 2011 which they followed up with a Split-7” with the legendary Swingin’ Utters from San Francisco in 2012. Shortly after that they added drums and a fifth member to their lineup.
Countless gigs in DIY-style so far brought them through Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Slovenia and Sweden. Among the stops were some well-known Festivals like Punk Rock Holiday, Pfingst Open Air, Rock im Dorf, Picture On and SBÄM-Fest.
Another Split-7” was released in 2014 followed up by another successful tour through Europe. 2019 saw the release of a new LP called “Dancing Wrestling Burning Wood” on SBÄM-Records, produced by Manfred Herzog (Astpai, Petrol Girls). It shows the band’s significant evolution and captures the raw energy of their live shows for the first time.
It’s minimalistic, energetic Folk-music with a special twist. Hints of Viennese Waltz and old style Austrian Folk clearly let their ancestry shine through the classic American Folk, Country and Punk influences. The lyrics tell stories of social differences, fear, joy, travelling and drinking.
They shared the stage with a lot of international bands including The Slackers, Swingin’ Utters, The Devil Makes Three, Larry & His Flask, The Bones, Street Dogs, Authority Zero, The Dreadnoughts, Hayseed Dixie, Possessed by Paul James, Arliss Nancy, The Mahones, The Dead Brothers, and countless others.
